Marriage is an important sacred ceremony between two people who are not just in-love but who believe in the sanctity of a wonderful relationship. Its purpose is to create life and build family. It is a gift that can be reciprocated through a legal ceremony, which is prescribed by law, which was established anciently. This is not just a tradition but also a commandment being observed by everyone who was taught that love should be shared between a man and a woman. Nonetheless, there is a strong proposition that special feelings between two people of the same sex should also have the same privilege that others are enjoying. Debates and arguments have been made if this is really a valid act to be sustained or not. Here are the 10 most significant reasons why same-sex marriages should not be legalized:
10. Lower Life Expectancy
Admit it or not, there are associated diseases that would affect mortality of individuals who are engaged in unsafe sex especially that the typical way of expressing and sharing it would result to various diseases. This is just the primary effect. There are other psychological disorders that were noted, which are clinically proven and supported by figures and facts. Homosexuality is not being condoned generally or personally, but for health concern and security. It is being opposed by medical experts themselves.
9. Wrong Foundation in Society
This is not a question of personality but the weakening effects it could generate to individuals who are fragile, innocent, and young. They would have a wrong concept and definition of everything that they see. Social norms and traditions would change and it would be a challenge for everyone to accept it since majority opposes to this idea.
8. Way to Unacceptable Behaviors
It would inculcate wrong perception and ideas about freedom. It would trigger unlikely and unruly behavior not just to these people who cannot identify themselves in specific gender since this is an apparent and very evident weakness. In fact, there could be odd ideas that someone could marry anyone or even anything that exists.
7. Divorce Rate Will Increase
Although divorce is legal in some countries but it does not mean that everyone could simply file a divorce if they are fed up with their relationship or other personal concerns would arise. In fact, if same-sex marriages would be legalized, everything would be easier, anyone could just go out of marriage relationships, especially those who are experiencing identity crisis and are within the bonds of marriage.
6. Children Will Be Confused
I hope this would not create any offenses to anyone. If there is someone in the world that we must be concerned about, it is not about passing of this bill or legalizing it to be a law. Young ones are being taught that there are only people created in the world, which are categorized as male and female. This is being supported with the curriculum at school. It is part of the right identification of their personality. If this will push through, there is a big possibility that it might be included and discussed within the class. Some who are confused would be more dumbfounded, may find themselves not trusting their parents, and would just accept what the law sets and not the inherent concepts of right and wrong.
5. Power of Procreation Will Cease
This is the major purpose of marriage, which is to create family. Of course, some would say that they can still adapt children and treat as their own but confusion might arise and other social problems would take place. Power of procreation is a special sacred gift, which is holy given to all who underwent the covenant of marriage. This is instituted and approved between a man and a woman who have accepted the matrimony of marriage.
4. Laws Will Be Diluted
This is the scary and frightening argument and predicament that the society might witness. If this will be approved and acknowledged as legal, it would open to all other possibilities of unacceptable ideas that might be considered valid. Some of the issues, which are still in debate that could have an inch hope higher if this proposal would continue, are the practice of multiple marriages, and other immoral acts that could lead to demoralization of the society and younger generations.
3. Courts Rejected It
Despite of the strong movement coming from the third-sex group that it should be legalized, majority still rules. In fact, even higher courts have rejected it. Despite of the unaccepted ruling done by the California Supreme Court for allowing same-sex marriage to be judicial and implementable, it caught criticism not just within the United States but even worldwide.
2. Marriage Will Be Deemed Lightly
If people today are taking everything lightly and have trampled the sanctity of power of sacredly creating life, it also connotes that they do not value the power and influence of marriage to every individual. In fact, statistics have shown that early pregnancy and abortion has increased largely and greatly by 20% because of the idealism and modernization that the world is undergoing. The conservative and right is still at its position that marriage must take place and not the idea of trial and error relationship.
1. It is a Sin
No matter how we twist every angle and argument of the facts, it is specifically condoned by religious groups. Whether you are Christian or not, people find it degradable to the moral values being taught within our homes, schools, and other social circles. Although separation of state and Church must be observed, but moral conscience must be followed also. This is not irrational but this is the meaning of RIGHT from the so-called RIGHTS inculcated to the minds of some who are active and enthusiastic in legalizing it.
The perception stated on this article is not to cause humiliation, deprivation, and discouragement to some who are in-love and would want to share the same experiences that others have. It is under the cause of truth, right, and values that must be preserved and protected.
