Robert Johnston who died in 1938 is officially considered the founder member of 27 club. There is a very popular legend regarding his popularity that he was the first man who signed a deal with the devil. According to the legend he was instructed to go to crossroad near Dockery Plantations in Mississippi. He met a large black man who is believed to be the Devil, took his guitar and tuned it and played few songs and then returned the guitar to Robert, from that point he became the master of that instrument. The deal was made by the Devil that he will give him all the fame and popularity and in return he will take his soul. Robert Johnston did become a famous musician but he died in 1938 at the age of 27. Then many people around the world started believing that Robert Johnston was the one who was the first victim of this curse and then later same thing happened to all the musician, they sold their soul to the Devil in exchange of fame and wealth.
